St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Day Surgery - Operating Theatre's and common area’s refurbishment
Project Overview
Active Conductors was engaged to deliver a highly specialised electrical refurbishment at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, focused on three operating theatres and surrounding clinical areas. Delivered within a fully operational hospital environment, this project required precise planning, healthcare-grade execution, and zero disruption to live surgical operations.
Value: 700K
Builder: Mettle Projects NSW
Scope of Works
Full strip-out and refurbishment of 3 operating theatres and 1 endoscopy room
Electrical upgrades to corridors, sterile stock rooms, treatment rooms, patient bed bays, waiting room’s and medication stores
Construction and fit-out of a new plant room supporting theatre mechanical systems
Installation of intelligent lighting systems using DALI dimming protocol
Implementation of UPS-backed essential power supplies
Strategic identification of safe power sources to prevent interference with live surgical systems
Full electrical planning and power-source mapping under a reverse brief delivery model
New LED lighting throughout was installed
Live Environment Execution
Working within a live surgical facility, Active Conductors implemented strict protocols to eliminate any risk of power disruption. All temporary and permanent circuits were carefully sourced from low-risk electrical supplies to ensure ongoing theatre operations remained unaffected throughout construction.
Reverse Brief & Technical Investigations
This project was delivered under a reverse brief, meaning our team was responsible for investigating and identifying safe, compliant pathways to permanent power—within the limitations of the hospital’s existing infrastructure. This required in-depth planning and coordination with hospital engineers and facility managers.
Intelligent Lighting & Essential Power
Lighting throughout theatres, corridors, and clinical rooms was upgraded using DALI dimming systems, providing zone-based control, dimming flexibility, and energy efficiency. In critical areas, we installed compliant UPS systems to maintain constant power to essential equipment, in line with hospital regulations.
Project Outcome
Despite the complexity of the site and aging infrastructure, the project was delivered on time, on budget, and without a single issue. The result is a compliant, modernised surgical and support environment—demonstrating Active Conductors’ ability to deliver high-risk healthcare upgrades with precision and zero disruption.
